A Message from the President
-----

As you may have noticed, many of NetMUG's services have been shut down in the past months. This message is intended to answer common questions about the group's current status and future.

NetMUG was founded with the goal of providing services to the Mac community to help Mac users make better use of their computers. Over the years, we have experimented with a number of different services towards this end. In the past, we have provided traditional MUG-like services: a newsletter, online meetings, discussion forums, etc. The amount of effort required and the declining interest in these services means that they are no longer sustainable -- simply put, we just don't have the resources to continue providing them.

We remain committed to the goal of serving the Mac community, and intend to continue to do so in different ways. One way in which we currently do so is by acting as a supporting organization for various other Mac-related groups. Among other things, we provide resources to support our closely-related organization, DALnet #macintosh, which provides free live technical support to the Mac community, as well as the Your Mac Life radio program.

Though our resources are admittedly quite limited, we continue to be interested in developing new low-maintenance Mac-related services. Anyone interested in helping with this should send me an email at the address below.

And, as always, I encourage anyone with questions to contact me at (president at netmug.org).
